Software Engineer, Backend (All Teams)

DoorDash is building the world's most reliable on-demand logistics engine for delivery, and we are looking for a Software Engineer, Backend to join our engineering office in New York, NY. Operating in a full-time, hybrid capacity, you will report to an Engineering Manager and build and maintain a large-scale, 24x7 global infrastructure system powering our three-sided marketplace of Consumers, Merchants, and Dashers. In this role, you will develop, release, and run large-scale web applications while defining the backend architecture and tech stack for key product areas. You will improve the performance, reliability, scalability, and security of our backend systems, and play an integral role in transitioning our monolithic codebase into a high-performance, microservice-based architecture. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will leverage AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex throughout the software development lifecycle to design, test, monitor, and release features. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of professional backend industry experience, strong proficiency with service-oriented architecture, and deep expertise with REST APIs, SQL, and NoSQL databases such as Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, and RabbitMQ.
